Training Dogs to Stay out of Rooms

My neighbors have trained their dogs to stay out of their kitchen and I want to do that as well. Does anyone know the best way to go about this? I don't want to just scream at them when they walk into the room but would like some way to set understandable boundries.

Great topic! The boys are inside most of the time and I would like them to know that there are some areas that are off limits. The kitchen for one, but also my formal living room. I would like to have some areas of the house that are dog free zones.

Yeah I can't figure this one out. Other then just yelling everytime they walk into a room I don't know what to tell you. i would love to train mine to just stay out from under the kitchen table.
I like my dogs better than I do most people!

If you are consistent with them then they will figure it out. It may take time, but dogs are smart. the hardest thing is just to have the exact same boundry every single time. I know it can be done because my dogs have never been allowed in the kitchen and we have moved during their life time.

right on the money moon. You just have to make sure that you always have the same response. There can't be any grey areas. Dogs don't understand "some times"

It sounds like you have to just fuss at them. i think it might be harder in my case because we have lived in this house for awhile and they are used to being allowed in the kitchen. So now we will just have to make some new rules.
