I knew this was coming but now we are officially here, and its time to ask for help. The puppies have moved beyond sleeping every minute of everyday to having much longer periods of playtime. This means that we don't have the warning signs of "they wake up" to take them out. HOw can you tell whats coming and how do we teach them where it is appropriate to do said business?

Watch for the sniffing or a sudden almost frantic increse in movement. I know, this is just how puppies are all the time, but you will be able to tell a slight differance. Also take them out right after they eat or drink anything. Lots of praise and high voice noises when they do good, and lots of deep voice unhappy nosies when they do bad. Dog understand tone better than words. There should be something on this around here somewhere. I'll find something to guide you. I like my dogs better than I do most people!

They are testing your reaction time! Don't worry you will get through this, just make sure to be consistent. If three different people are using three different methods, then you are doomed for faliure! Dogs need simple direct instructions with lots of repitition. The more you live the less you die.

Just like everything else I am sure that you will prevail! Just remeber to be consistant. don't send mixed messages or you will constantly set yourself back to square one. And since that leaves you scrubbing carpet then thats somewhere you don't want to be! I like my dogs better than I do most people!

The hardest part about being consistant is having the kids in the equation. They don't ever want the puppies to be in trouble, so I have caught them cleaning things up with out telling me that they ever happened. It's sweet, but it doesn't help me get the dogs trained any faster.
