Does anyone know if nail polish will hurt dogs? I ask because when I came home today I found that my daughter painted the puppies nails last night. I didn't know that she had done it and now I just need to make sure that it won't hurt them. there is none around their mouths so I don't think that they ate any, but it is definitly on their nails.

While I wouldn't suggest letting them lick paint from the bottle I think that you should be fine here. I know that there are a lot of people out there that paint their dogs nails on a regualr basis and the dogs seem to be just fine. But that's about all that she should paint on a puppy!

There are a lot of groomers out there that offer nail painting as one of their services. If the puppies like to lick off the paint then i wouldn't try it too often, but if they leave it alone then it shouldn't be a big deal. You might want to be there though as sometimes one activity can lead to a "great" new idea very quickly.

My daughters did that to my wife's little maltease and he suffered no ill effects. We, like you, had no idea that they thought this would be a good plan, but bright purple polish shows up really well against snow white fur. If he handled it then I think that your two should do just fine. I agree with Akitagirl though, you might not want to let them like lick the bottle or anything!

I bet the puppy hated having his feet held still more than he even noticed to polish. He probably didn't lick it much either because he wouldn't like the smell. I think that you are probably in the clear here.

I thought it was funny that all the little girl puppies had their toe nails painted the other day. The breeders said it was to easily keep the males and females apart. It does look kind of cute even though we probably won't do it again!
