Have any of you ever had a dog with hot spots? One of my dogs has really started in on one particular spot and i just can't get it to quit. I was wondering what you have tried that worked for you. I know there has to be something that I can at least try before I go running to the vet.

I have, but I forget what the vet said caused them. I know that in some cases it is nerves, like a person biting their fingernails. I bet if you were to look around the site you would find some knd of article on this topic. I'll do a quick spin and see if I can find anything for you. The more you live the less you die.

Please do! I can also go through and look, but I think that you might just know your way around a bit better! I have to say that it is kind of gross to watch and it smells! I want the dog to have relif, but I also don't want to be grossed out by it!

This is something that the boys have not had yet, but i wouldn't doubt it if this is a future issue! I hope that we skip this one, but we don't seem to have skipped anything yet!

Make sure that they aren't allergic to something that you are either using on them or using in your house. Like a carpet cleaner or something like that. A lot of dogs can be irritated by certain shampoos or flea medications. You might have changed brands or your brand my have changes something in their formulation. its worth looking into!

You know Hunter that is a really good point! Hot spots can be caused by a number of reasons, but right there on the top of the list is skin irritation. If your dog is coming into contact with something in the house that is irritating their skin then there is really no way for them to get away from it. I like my dogs better than I do most people!
