Temperament: The Irish Wolfhound is a very sweet, gentle, generous, patient, thoughtful, easy-going, and highly intelligent dog. Trainability: Very easy to train. Responds well to firm but gentle training. This dog quickly grasps what the concepts you throw at him.
Health: The Irish Wolfhound dogs are prone to cardiomyopathy, bone cancer, bloat, PRA, Von Willebrands, and hip dysplasia.


With Other Animals: Gets along with other dogs. Is very calm and mild-mannered in nature.
Children: Excellent. Can be trusted around small children.
Climate: Tolerates hot climates, but does not react well with cold climates.
Indoor/Outdoor: Either. Will work well within any climate. Shade is recommended for hot climates. Doesn't need too much exercise. An occasional walk will do. These dogs could be kept within an apartment due to their mild nature, but because of thier size, it is not recommended.
